Price models
One-time, pay what you want, fixed term, subscription, lifetime with cohorts, credit packs.
A product has one or more prices. Each price follows one model.
| Model | The buyer gets | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| One-time | The item, once | Goods, downloads, tickets |
| Pay what you want | Any amount above your minimum | Tips, donations, pre-sales |
| Fixed term | Access for N days | Passes, courses, a season |
| Subscription | A period, renewed by invoice | Software, memberships |
| Lifetime | Access forever — optionally one of a few seats | Founding members, early access |
| Credit pack | A number of credits | API calls, credits, prints |
Lifetime and cohorts
Cap a lifetime price at a number of seats, then split the seats into cohorts that cost more as they fill.
| Cohort | Seats | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Founding | 1–21 | $21 |
| Early | 22–231 | $42 |
| Open | 232–2,331 | $105 |
| Club | 2,332–21,000 | $210 |
That is Perly App's club: 21,000 seats in four cohorts, sold through Perly Pay. The checkout shows which cohort is open; a seat gets its number when it's paid.
