Pay from an exchange

Binance, Coinbase, Kraken, Bitvavo, OKX, Bybit: the right coin, the right network, the exact amount.

Paying from an exchange is a withdrawal to the seller's address. Three things must match the payment page exactly: the coin, the network and the amount that arrives.

  1. 1

    On the payment page

Pick the coin and network, then From an exchange. Its QR code holds the address only — you type the amount yourself.

  2. 2

    On the exchange

Open Withdraw (some apps say Send) and pick the same coin.

  3. 3

    Pick the network

Choose the network the payment page names — not the cheapest one on the list. A wrong network can lose the money.

  4. 4

    Paste the address

Use the copy button on the payment page. Check the first and last few characters after pasting.

  5. 5

    Set the amount

Many exchanges take their fee out of the amount you type. What must arrive is the exact amount on the payment page: add the fee on top, or set the exchange to the amount received.

  6. 6

    Confirm

Approve with your code or email. The payment page moves on its own once the network sees the money.

Network names

Exchanges name networks their own way. These are the same:

Payment pageOn an exchange
BitcoinBitcoin, BTC. Not Lightning, not BNB Smart Chain.
BaseBase
ArbitrumArbitrum One. Not Arbitrum Nova.
OptimismOptimism, OP Mainnet
EthereumEthereum, ERC20
TRONTRON, TRC20
On Arbitrum and Optimism the USDT we take is USDT0. If your exchange doesn't name that token for the network, pay with USDC: every network we take carries Circle's own USDC. Some exchanges in the EU no longer offer USDT at all.

If it takes a while

The price is held for 30 minutes. Withdrawals can wait for the exchange's checks, but money that arrives later still counts — see too little, too late. If the page doesn't move, press Already paid? under the address and paste the transaction id (TxID) from the exchange's withdrawal history.

If the exchange asks who owns the address, see the exchange asks who owns the address.

Notes by exchange

Binance

The withdrawal form lets you type either the receive amount (the fee is added on top) or the withdrawal amount (the fee comes out). Use the receive amount and type the exact figure. Binance: how to withdraw

Coinbase

Use Send to an address on the network the payment page names; Coinbase can't get back a send on the wrong network. Before you confirm, check that the amount the recipient gets equals the payment page. Coinbase: send crypto

Kraken

A new address must be added and confirmed before the first withdrawal, so allow a few minutes. For clients in the EU and the UK, Kraken allows transfers only to wallets you own, and asks you to prove it above €1,000 — there, send to your own wallet first and pay from it. Bitvavo

Crypto withdrawals must be switched on and the address saved in your address book first. Bitvavo doesn't allow sending to wallets that aren't yours, payments included — send to your own wallet first and pay from it. Bitvavo: withdraw crypto

OKX

Pick the same coin and network as the payment page; OKX charges a fee for the network on top of the transfer. Check the amount received before you submit. OKX: crypto withdrawal

Bybit

By default the fee comes out of the amount you type. Add it on top, or switch the form to the amount received. Bybit may ask you to verify the address before it sends. Bybit: on-chain withdrawal · Bybit: withdrawal FAQ
